New Caterer in Boarding School

5 07 2007

So, the day most of us had been waiting for. The replacement of the ISS caterers. 1st of July 2007. This day will mark the start of a new and improved boarding school life for me. ISS food had always been, well, lets call it “not widely liked”.

I was not in the boarding school on the 1st. But the food I sampled on my return on the 2nd said quite a lot about the quality of food. At the very least, most of us find no qualms in actually putting the food into our mouths. I could not say that for the likes of seashell nasi lemak and sweetened mashed potato we experienced while being catered for by ISS. But one thing that I think would affect the overall dining experience is the snail-paced serving. Seems like they are not a very big company and have got limited employees.

Since the introduction of the new caterer, the food had generally been good and plentiful. The tasty but only marginally “Western” food served yesterday was so good that some of my friends consumed gargantuan amounts of it. Even going as far as to fill a bowl with chilli sauce… Unfortunately, I did not have the stomach capacity at that time to gorge myself as I had a late lunch of “Bak Chor Mee with lots of Vinegar”. Nevertheless, I sampled the food and found it tantalising.

As an additional joke, I saw a letter of congratulations from ISS to our school in the yearbook. Aaron and I speculated that we would see a “Why did you have to chase us out?” message from them in the 2007 year book. Haha.

Going for a drama performance put up by the few better SYF groups tonight. Check in later!
